Oenoculture in the years of Covid-19
5th Gymnasium of Chania

The 5th Gymnasium of Chania participates in the program Erasmus + 'Enocultura, Start of European Oenology, Pre-phylloxera European Grape'. The partners are: Aurelio Gómez Escolar (Spain), the University of Burgos (Spain), 1º Acharnes High School (Greece), Livadia Regional High School (Cyprus), IES Teguise (Spain). 

 

Through this program students have the opportunity to deal with topics such as:

• the history of wine

• grape varieties in Mediterranean areas and indigenous varieties of Crete

• types of wines

• the process of wine production

• the phylloxera of the vine

• wine and diet

• wine and entrepreneurship

• wine and health

• professional activity in the field of winemaking

Some of the goals of the program are the acquaintance with the culture, the customs and traditions, the traditions and the way of life of the cooperating countries, the development of critical thinking and teamwork as well as the development of students' communication skills. Efforts will also be made to cultivate a sense of friendship and cooperation with partners. It is an educational program based on experiential learning which is enhanced through observation and interaction.
